In the summer of 2025, I went to Bali to start on a conservation course. There, I learnt many things, such as seagrass (which sparked interest in me developing ideas to combat ocean acidification using seagrass), manta rays, sharks, coral conservation, coral types, fish ID, underwater naturalist, and more. I did a total of around 5 specialties in this course, and it was a delightful experience.

One thing that I loved the most about this experience was that I was able to see… SO MANY THINGS. I saw sharks, manta rays, cuttlefish, all sorts of marine animals and it was so magical .

Some things I saw: ꒰ᐢ.   ̫ .ᐢ

  • different types of rays
  • manta rays
  • molas
  • sharks (wobbegong, black-tip, white-tip)
  • turtles (at least 5!)
  • cuttlefish
  • boxfish
  • barracudas
  • trumpetfish
  • parrotfish
  • and so on.

The coral, especially, left me awestruck. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the feeling of just floating underwater, looking at all of the expanses of coral and just.. taking all of its beauty in.

Something else that I loved about this place (the area that I visited, the diving site) was the education. When I signed up for the course, there were science researchers/uni students who explained a lot of terms and interesting topics, especially on things such as diving itself, or the marine animals, coral etc. I felt like I was being overwhelmed and filled to the brim with knowledge and I really really liked that.

The staff/people there were also incredibly friendly, and I was able to ask a lot of questions, in which they answered it incredibly well. A lot of files and pdfs were sent to me that was full of facts and knowledge of the scuba-diving world, and I feel as though I have improved myself a lot.
