Sherlock Holmes 2- Sir A.C.Doyle.

This is my second book of Sherlock Holmes and I am satisfied to say it is just as excitable as the first book. Once again, the words, and the dramatic fling across the stories set an excitable man enter in my mind. The book makes me want to experience so much of those mysteries Holmes has.

Since I have written a former book, much of my book review format will not be used because it means I will repeat myself. So I thought it would be interesting to talk about Sherlock Holmes.

The character first appeared in print in 1887 in the novel “A Study in Scarlet.” Holmes is known for his brilliant deductive reasoning, keen observation skills, and iconic deerstalker hat. Holmes is known for his sharp intellect, logical reasoning, attention to detail, and remarkable observational and deduction skills. He is depicted as a master of disguise and a skilled martial artist. Holmes’ loyal friend and biographer, Dr. Watson, accompanies him on many of his adventures. Watson narrates most of the stories and provides a counterbalance to Holmes’ eccentricities with his more down-to-earth personality.

Sherlock Holmes has also also almost died, and never resurfaced. In one of the stories, Doyle ended him off to finish the saga, but so many people protested that he brought Holmes back.

My favorite character between Holmes and Watson is definitely Watson, for Sherlock feels too cold and slightly irritating at times, and Watson having much more humane intelligence, having more what it seems, a warmer, and approachable manner.

My favorite story in this book was ‘The adventure of the Blue Carbuncle. The plot was very interesting, for a gem, and a duck was included, with lots of side plots and thick intensity.

For a while I wondered what Sherlock Holmes really wanted to teach us. Surely, the author did not want children to become like Holmes, cold, and brilliant? Although  he was portrayed as an good man, his social skills and decent manners are sometimes rather repulsive in my opinion. His ideas are one sided, and I can see the old mannered thinking as I read it now. Racism, discrimination, his idea of how women are weak. Why do people say it’s a great book when we see all of this? Yes, Sherlock Holmes is a donkey and an annoying person (in my opinion) but he is a brilliant, and clever, and utmost brave person to include himself in another’s business to help, save, and retrieve. That’s what people like to see. And that’s why we must be Watson, yet also be
